A Letter to the President

Dear Mr. President Bush,

You and I both know that Iran is the root of many of the problems that we are facing in Iraq (along with Syria). The British are our strongest and most faithful allies in the war in Iraq. Iran’s recent decision to capture the sailors has left the world wondering what will happen now. Our troops need to see swift and decisive action from both ourselves and Britain. The world governments need to feel the strength and the resolve our great country can display here. It seems to me that this is a very decisive time for the United State of America and our Allies. If we do not react to Iran’s actions properly, we will be displaying weakness and our lack of unity within our government on the world stage.

Mr. President, You are our only hope. You are not going to receive bi-partisan support. You are not going to receive International support to any real degree. You are not going to receive the support you would expect and hope for from the American people. Accept those facts because they are the facts you are faced with. We need a leader Mr. President. We have a war to win here and quite frankly your actions on Iran will be a deciding factor on how well the rest of this battle goes and how the history books record your presidency.

Mr. President forgive me for oversimplifying the problems, consequences, and decisions you face. I understand that it is not as easy as I am making it sound. However, I do not want to drown out my voice regarding these decisions and my support with the background noise of the politics involved with your decision. The history books will not record that background noise. The history books will only report the decisions you made, tuff as they are. Mr. President, stay strong and in many areas please get stronger.

Mr. President, sometimes it seems you are buying into this notion that the people spoke during the last election and there for you must adjust your policy and ideology because of it. Our future as a country cannot be compromised by this type of thinking. The time prior to the last elections things were somewhat stagnate in Iraq and the media was as relentless as usual in it reporting of the situation. The American people wanted change and unfortunately they got change. I can assure you that the majority of Americans did not want what they are getting (Investigation after investigation, non-binding time table for a pull out of Iraq, Pelosi talks with Syria, The House does not even address the hostage situation). The American people wanted action but not that kind of action. I do not know what the poles are telling you but it is time to lead this country to victory. It is time to cut thru the politics anyway possible and fight this war without our hands tied. Any opposition will be silenced by your actions because they will not have time to figure out what side of this to be on. Your opposition whether Democrat or Republican need to be left in the wake of your decisions as a leader. Hopefully, in the end, there will be more people standing behind their leader than standing up against you. But, as the leader, you must call the shots and create the history.

Thank you Mr. President.
